F1 Calendar Changes: Dutch GP Contract Ends, Barcelona and Spa to Alternate Annually
Significant changes are coming to the Formula 1 calendar: the Dutch Grand Prix contract ends, and Barcelona and Spa-Francorchamps will alternate annually. Despite two new Grands Prix from 2027, the total number of races remains 24.
We remind you of very important transformations awaiting the Formula 1 calendar in the near future. This year, the contract with the Dutch Grand Prix officially ends and will not be renewed. Therefore, the orange smoke flares in Zandvoort will be seen for the last time. Starting next season, a new rule will apply to two classic European events: the races in Barcelona and the legendary Spa-Francorchamps will alternate year by year. Although from 2027 the championship will feature two new Grands Prix, the total number of stages will remain unchanged. There will still be 24 races. Formula 1 management has long considered this number ideal and does not intend to increase the workload on teams in the near future.
