Organizers decided to add time to Friday's FP1 session so that drivers and teams could better understand the updates and new setups. This is a rare occurrence, as practice sessions usually last exactly one hour, but an exception was made for the Miami track.
The additional 30 minutes will help teams gather more data. Since this is a sprint format event, every extra minute on track is extremely valuable to prepare the cars for qualifying.
